WELCA End of Year Report 2016

Elections will be held for the New Year. Leader positions open.
Requirements: Part-time position requires nine months attendance of monthly
meetings; NO experience unnecessary: training available. Monetary
compensation: none, but doing God's work brings excellent benefits!

It’s time to begin collecting items for Lutheran World Relief.
We collect cotton fabric and fabric scraps to make a 60 x 80 inch quilt. Two old sheets or blankets are placed in the middle for warmth. Twin sheets are purchased to put
on the bottom side of the quilt. Some women sew the scraps together to make a quilt top. In October and February we get together and tack the 3 layers together. We also
hem the quilts. At Easter the items are boxed and taken to Holy Ghost in Fredericksburg. From there they go to TLU and then to warehouses to be send to wherever they
are needed.

We also collect items for kits that are also sent:

70 sheet notebook
Ruler in inches & centimeters
Pencil sharpener
Blunt scissors
#2 unsharpened pencils with erasers
24 count crayons
Ball point pens (no gel ink)

52 x 27 dark colored bath towel
4-5 oz both soap in original wrapping
Adult-size toothbrush in original packaging
Wide tooth sturdy comb
Metal nail clippers

Sizes up to 24 months
Lightweight cotton t shirt
Gown or sleepers without feet
Receiving blanket
Flat fold cloth diapers
Jacket or sweater
Dark colored hand towel
Bath size soap in original
Diaper pins

Please save sturdy boxes for packing the items.
If you prefer we collect money to purchase the items. Take all items to the Fellowship Hall or give to Janice Spaeth.
